May is National Drowning Prevention Month. Drowning is not like what you see in movies; there are no warnings or splashing sounds. Drowning is a leading cause of injury-related deaths for children under 5 in CA. Supervision of kids around ALL water is critical!

The best way to reduce drowning deaths is by reducing risk. Take swimming lessons. Learn lifesaving skills. Always have adult supervision and wear a life jacket when near, on, or in water. Water can overcome even the best swimmers.
