The Consumer Advisory Committee, known fondly as “the CAC”, is a social and advocacy group open to all IRC Consumers ages 16 and older. The CAC is governed by a board of elected IRC Consumers and facilitated by IRC’s Consumer Advocates. Each month the CAC holds fun events designed for IRC’s teen and adult age Consumers.
March – Mini-Golf: On March 31, the CAC held their first ever Mini-Golf Fundraiser at Fiesta Village in Colton. IRC Consumers, families, staff, and community partners took to the course for an evening of unlimited mini-golf fun, with many guests playing the course several times! The fundraiser, planned by IRC’s Consumer Advocates, raised $450 for future CAC events.
April – Spring Fling: The CAC, in conjunction with IRC’s Community Engagement team, hosted the Spring Fling Dance in Barstow on April 13. The afternoon brought together students from Barstow High School and clients from B.E.S.T. Opportunities. The more than 70 guests showed off their best dance moves to tunes provided by Rocking DJ Nelson, who also serves as the CAC President. Guests were also treated to pizza and drinks, sponsored by B.E.S.T. Opportunities, and a photo booth provided by IRC’s Community Engagement team. The CAC would like to thank IRC staffer Ismeth Diaz for coordinating this event!
