On July 16, 2025, Inland Regional Center hosted a powerful and informative Coffee n’ Chat focused on disaster preparedness. This event brought together clients, families, community partners, and emergency management professionals for an important conversation about staying safe during times of crisis.
The session featured insightful presentations from the Riverside County Emergency Management Department and the San Bernardino County Office of Emergency Services—two leading agencies that work year-round to prepare and protect our communities before, during, and after disasters.

The Riverside County Emergency Management Department supports residents through public education, emergency alerts, evacuation planning, and preparedness training to ensure the community is ready when emergencies strike. Likewise, San Bernardino County OES plays a critical role in safeguarding the largest county in the U.S., leading coordinated response efforts and ensuring emergency planning includes individuals with access and functional needs.
Attendees learned about the importance of creating a personal emergency plan, assembling emergency kits, and registering for local alert systems—tools that can make a meaningful difference in a crisis. The information shared was tailored specifically to support individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Marquis Quinton, IRC’s Emergency Services Coordinator, reflected on the significance of the event:
“Workshops like these are vital because they empower our community to be informed, prepared, and confident when facing the unexpected. Being proactive saves lives—and it’s especially important that individuals with disabilities are not left behind during emergencies.”
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Riverside County Emergency Management Department, the San Bernardino County Office of Emergency Services, and all who participated in this Coffee n’ Chat. Your presence and engagement are helping us build a safer, more informed, and more inclusive IRC community.
