Hello, my name is Lesley Benitez. Before entering this field, I worked as a project manager in the construction industry, where I developed strong skills in customer service, communication, and problem-solving. These experiences continue to guide me as I support families and navigate new challenges.
I am bilingual in English and Spanish, which allows me to connect with a broader range of individuals and communities. As the mother of a 7-year-old son with an intellectual disability and a daughter, I have personally experienced both the joys and challenges that come with parenting. My journey has fueled a deep passion for learning, advocating, and supporting other parents who may be on similar paths.

In my role as IRC Parent Ambassador, I am committed to:
- Helping families navigate and access regional center services.
- Sharing information about community resources, workshops, and trainings.
- Providing peer-to-peer support to parents who may feel overwhelmed or uncertain.
- Acting as a bridge between families and IRC staff to strengthen communication.
- Promoting parent leadership by encouraging others to use their voice and share their experiences.
- Creating safe spaces for families to feel supported, understood, and empowered.
My children, Emiliano and Eva, are my greatest inspiration. They remind me daily of the value of perseverance, compassion, and community.

I am honored to serve as a Parent Ambassador at IRC and look forward to contributing to a culture of support and connection, where families know they are not alone on their journey.
