On October 1st, 2018, DDS released the names of individuals selected to participate in the Self-Determination Pilot Program– IRC has 256 chosen participants.
Consumers and families that were selected will soon receive notification from DDS. IRC is in the process of identifying the service coordinators and teams responsible for these Consumers, and will soon share the info with each of them. Additionally, any Consumers that were not selected will also be notified. Those individuals not selected will remain on the waiting list, and may be chosen to fill any vacancies that become available on the main list.
What happens next?
Regional centers will be required to hold a mandatory ‘orientation’ for all participants, taking place in January 2019. The selected Self-Determination participants will not be able to begin the process until after the orientation has been completed. IRC will provide additional information as it is received.
