IRC’s Community Engagement Team welcomes their new Language Access and Cultural Competency Specialist, Martín Morales!
Martin loves technology and communication, which he uses for more effective interactions with staff and Clients. He graduated from California Baptist University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and a Master’s degree in Public Administration.
He brings experience in private and public sectors, having direct contact with customers of various backgrounds in the different positions he has performed, such as Media Relations Assistant and Community Relations Specialist, interacting with English and Spanish-speaking audiences through social media channels and outreach events; Sports Director in local government in Mexico, engaging residents in recreational activities; volunteer for Riverside city channel in the television department in the production of content; and working in local government for the County of Riverside, DPSS assisting vulnerable families needing food assistance.
In his new role as a Language Access and Cultural Competency Specialist, he is motivated to listen closely to Clients and IRC staff to understand their needs, analyze their feedback, gather ideas, and form mutually beneficial relations to reduce cultural and language barriers to help increase awareness of services and programs available to the community.
