On July 30, 2024, the Native American Coalition came together in a meaningful collaboration with San Bernardino Children and Family Services and the Department of Behavioral Health. Hosted by the Inland Empire Community Collaborative (IECC), this gathering brought together 35 coalition members dedicated to advancing the well-being and support of Native American families in our region.
The event functioned as a dynamic platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and strengthening partnerships among organizations supporting the Native American community. Participants explored resources that could positively impact Native American families and emphasized the critical need for culturally informed services. Representatives from IECC, Children and Family Services (CFS), and the Autism Society Inland Empire shared updates on ongoing initiatives to engage the Native American community in San Bernardino County. IRC Program Administrator Dr. CJ Cook also gave a brief presentation on the upcoming San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Blue Envelope Program.
The IECC, as the host, facilitated a space where voices could be heard and solutions could be co-created. The event underscored the importance of community-led initiatives and the power of collaboration in fostering positive change.
As we look forward to future gatherings, the momentum built during this meeting will undoubtedly continue to inspire efforts to enhance the quality of life for Native American families across San Bernardino County. The coalition remains committed to advocating for and implementing services that honor the unique cultural heritage and needs of the Native American community.
