“Food security is a fundamental right that everyone deserves.”
— Steven Serrano Yepez, Community Relations Specialist
Food security is an increasingly important issue in our community. According to the County of San Bernardino, many families face challenges accessing nutritious food. As someone who has personally experienced these difficulties during my college years and even post-graduation, I deeply understand the need for resources that support families in the Inland Empire.
Below are some organizations and programs that provide food assistance in our region:

Feeding America Riverside | San Bernardino: A Network Fighting Hunger
One of the largest hunger relief organizations in the region is Feeding America Riverside | San Bernardino. This nonprofit plays a crucial role in addressing food insecurity by distributing millions of pounds of food each year to local food banks, community centers, and partner organizations.
Through a network of food pantries and distribution centers, Feeding America ensures that individuals and families in need can access fresh produce, pantry staples, and essential groceries.
If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, visit their Get Help page to find local food pantries and upcoming food distribution events.
CalFresh: Helping Families Access Nutritious Meals
Another essential resource is CalFresh, a federally funded program designed to provide nutritional assistance to low-income individuals and families. CalFresh benefits, commonly known as food stamps, help recipients buy fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and other grocery items using an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card.
To check eligibility or apply, visit the CalFresh webpage.
The Salvation Army Inland Empire: Community Support Beyond Food
For those in need of immediate food assistance, The Salvation Army Inland Empire provides another vital resource. By visiting your nearest Salvation Army location, you can access food pantries, emergency meal services, and additional social support programs.
Advocacy and Community Engagement: Your Role in Strengthening Food Security
I encourage everyone to connect with their local representatives, including state legislators, state senators, and city or county officials, to learn about additional food pantries, upcoming food drives, and advocacy opportunities. You can find your local representative by visiting Find Your Representative.
