The Kiwanis Club of San Bernardino, in partnership with Inland Regional Center’s (IRC) Community Engagement Unit, wrapped up a successful Sock Drive that brought warmth—and joy—to local children. Led by IRC Client Advocate and Kiwanis Club Member Gregory Harrison, the Sock Drive collected approximately 400 pairs of children’s socks by the time it concluded on March 4, 2025.

This meaningful community effort was more than a donation. It was a statement about the power of service, partnership, and the impact of giving back.

The socks, generously contributed by IRC staff, Kiwanis Club Members, and community supporters, were delivered by the IRC Community Engagement team to Lincoln Elementary School on May 21, 2025. The delivery brought excitement and big smiles to students who were thrilled by the surprise.

“The school kids were energetic and excited receiving socks and were grabbing them left and right,” said Gregory Harrison. “It may seem like a small thing, but something as simple as a new pair of socks can make a kid feel seen and cared for. And that goes for big kids and the little ones who were there.”

In addition to organizing the drive, Harrison emphasized the importance of giving back through collaborative efforts like this one.

“Events like this show how strong our community is when we come together. Giving back doesn’t have to be complicated. Like I said before, it just takes people who care stepping up and doing what they can. It’s as simple as that,” he shared.

This joint initiative highlights the heart of the Kiwanis’ Mission of Community Service, especially to our children. It underlines IRC’s commitment to supporting families and building inclusive, connected communities. The Sock Drive also reinforces the essential role local schools play as hubs for both learning and support.

Inland Regional Center and the Kiwanis Club of San Bernardino extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated, with special appreciation to Lincoln Elementary School and their wonderful Faculty and Staff for welcoming the delivery and for their generosity and team spirit.

Together, these organizations proved that even a small act—like donating a pair of socks—can go a long way in warming hearts and building a better future for children in our region.
