San Bernardino, CA – On May 2, 2026, Inland Regional Center proudly welcomed families, community partners, professionals, advocates, and self‑advocates to the annual Service Access and Equity (SAE) Conference, held at the IRC Conference Center in San Bernardino. This year’s theme “Parent Wellness and Self‑Care” centered the essential truth that supporting individuals with developmental disabilities also means supporting the caregivers, parents, and families who advocate for them every day.
The 2026 conference created a welcoming environment where families could learn, recharge, and feel empowered through education, connection, and community engagement. Building on the success of previous years, the event continued IRC’s mission of advancing equity, access, and culturally responsive services across our diverse communities.

A Day Designed for Wellness, Learning & Connection
Attendees participated in a full day of workshops, wellness experiences, and community networking opportunities. The agenda featured a thoughtful blend of restorative practices, practical tools, and inspiring messages—all delivered by an outstanding lineup of presenters.
Welcome Remarks — IRC Executive Director
The day began with a warm welcome from Lavinia Johnson, who emphasized the importance of equity, representation, and community partnership in supporting families.
Restorative Sound Bath — Jeanette Ali

A gentle restorative sound bath guided by Jeanette invited participants to slow down, breathe deeply, and begin the day with intention.
Emotional Wellness Workshop — Minds of Light & FeelWise
The workshop Turning Fight Into Right offered families practical tools for navigating conflict, strengthening communication, and building emotional resilience.

Keynote Address: Centering Wellness in the Caregiving Journey
We were honored to welcome Carola Camacho Maranon, M.S.C. as this year’s keynote speaker. Her message encouraged families to prioritize their own wellness while continuing to advocate for meaningful opportunities and supports for their loved ones. She highlighted the importance of emotional well‑being, community support, and empowerment within the caregiving journey—resonating deeply with attendees.

Engaging Activities & Community Resources
This year’s conference also featured a variety of activities and resource opportunities, including:
- Informative conversations
- Community networking opportunities
- Sound bath demonstration
- Magic show photo booth
- Resource and vendor connections
The energy throughout the event reflected the strength and resilience of our community. Families connected with service providers, community organizations, and IRC staff while learning about available supports and building relationships that extend far beyond the conference itself.

A Celebration of Equity, Representation & Community Strength
As in previous years, the SAE Conference served as more than a one‑day event, it stood as a reminder of the power of representation, advocacy, and partnership. Every conversation, shared experience, and new connection contributes to a stronger and more inclusive community for the individuals and families we serve.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the California Department of Developmental Services and their representatives for traveling from Sacramento to participate. Their presence reinforced the statewide commitment to advancing equity, accessibility, and inclusion across the regional center system.
Looking Ahead: Continuing the Momentum
Our Community Spotlight page will continue to feature stories, testimonials, videos, and highlights that celebrate the voices and experiences of our community members, partners, and advocates. We encourage everyone to stay connected and revisit our website as we build upon the momentum of this year’s conference.
We extend heartfelt gratitude to all attendees, presenters, volunteers, community partners, service providers, and IRC staff members who helped make the 2026 SAE Conference a success. Your dedication continues to inspire meaningful change and greater opportunities for our communities.
