SAN BERNARDINO, CA – On June 6th, The Inland Regional Center held its highly anticipated Spring Fling Cultural Resource Fair, at the IRC Conference Center. This event brought together families, clients, service providers, and community partners for a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity, connection, and resource-sharing. From 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., attendees experienced a dynamic event filled with engaging performances, informative booths, music, and opportunities to connect with vital community services.

The event was designed not only to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the Inland Empire, but also to provide meaningful access to resources that support individuals and families served by Inland Regional Center. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, with colorful displays, interactive activities, and a strong sense of community throughout the venue.

Empowering Families Through Connection

A key highlight of the Spring Fling was the opportunity for families to engage directly with service providers and community organizations. Parents were able to ask questions, learn about available programs, and build relationships that extend beyond the event itself.

Lesley Benitez, Parent Ambassador, emphasized the importance of events like the Spring Fling for families navigating services and support systems:

“Events like the Spring Fling give parents a chance to feel seen, supported, and connected. When families attend, they gain valuable information, but just as important, they build confidence in advocating for their loved ones”.

The impact on parents was evident throughout the event, as conversations at booths and shared experiences created a sense of belonging and empowerment. For many families, the Spring Fling served as a gateway to resources they may not have otherwise discovered.

Supporting Clients Through Access and Advocacy

The Spring Fling also played a significant role in supporting Inland Regional Center clients by providing direct access to services and fostering community inclusion. Organizations present at the fair offered guidance on programs ranging from healthcare and employment to recreational and cultural opportunities.

Gregory Harrison, Consumer Advocate, spoke to the value of the event for clients:

“This event creates real opportunities for clients to connect with services that improve their quality of life. It’s not just about information—it’s about empowering individuals to make informed choices and feel part of a larger community.”

Clients were able to explore options, ask questions, and engage with professionals in a supportive and accessible space. The fair reinforced the importance of advocacy and ensuring that every individual has access to the tools they need to thrive.

The Power of Collaboration and Planning

Behind the scenes, the success of the Spring Fling was made possible through thoughtful planning and collaboration. The event brought together multiple departments, community partners, and vendors who worked collectively to create a seamless and impactful experience.

Jalyn Hayes, Events Developer Outreach Specialist, highlighted the importance of organizing events that center community needs:

“Planning the Spring Fling is about more than logistics—it’s about intentionally creating a space where culture, resources, and community come together. Seeing families and clients engage and benefit from the event makes all the coordination worthwhile.”

From coordinating performances to organizing vendor participation, the level of detail and care put into the event ensured that attendees could fully engage and enjoy everything the fair had to offer.

Recognizing Community Partners, Volunteers, and Advocates

The Inland Regional Center extends sincere gratitude to the community partners, volunteers, vendors, and IRC team members who contributed to the success of the Spring Fling Cultural Resource Fair. Their participation helped create an inclusive, welcoming, and engaging experience for families, clients, and attendees of all ages.

A special acknowledgement goes to In-Roads Creative Programs and 24 Hour Home Care for their participation in our Planning Committee and their incredible support with volunteers and the provision of snacks and refreshments for our participants. We also want to thank the three organizations that supported outdoor activities and meaningful engagement throughout the event:

  • Padres con Poder, whose volunteers helped bring energy, connection, and family-centered engagement to the outdoor activity space.
  • UDID, which offered face and body painting along with other interactive activities that gave attendees a fun and creative way to participate in the celebration.
  • Bright Horizons, which provided a quiet room experience for younger clients, offering developmentally appropriate activities in a calm and supportive environment.

In addition, IRC recognizes the participation of IRC CAC President Joshua Souder, who shared important information and resources with clients and families. His presence, along with the support of our Resource Development and Transportation Program Administrator, Community Engagement and Service, Access and Equity Team members, helped strengthen outreach efforts and ensured attendees had access to helpful guidance throughout the fair.

Looking Ahead

The Spring Fling Cultural Resource Fair exemplifies Inland Regional Center’s commitment to fostering inclusion, cultural awareness, and community engagement. By bringing together families, clients, and partners in a shared space, the event strengthens connections and builds a foundation for continued support and collaboration.

As the Inland Empire continues to grow and diversify, events like the Spring Fling remain vital in ensuring that communities are informed, empowered, and connected. Inland Regional Center looks forward to continuing this tradition and creating even more opportunities for meaningful engagement in the future.

Through celebration, connection, and collaboration, the Spring Fling once again demonstrated the power of community and the lasting impact of coming together with a shared purpose.

Stay tuned for our Fall Festival registration coming up. This event will take place on Saturday, October 24th, 2026. We can’t wait! See you soon.
