Each month, IRC staffers are nominated by their colleagues in our Employee Recognition program. This month we are celebrating Evelyn De La Torre and Mirianne Kirk!
October 2018 – Positively Contagious Award
Evelyn De La Torre works at IRC as the Riverside County Intake Coordinator. Evelyn is known for her positive brand of sass, always bringing laughs and smiles to those around her. This is what her colleagues had to say about her, “Evelyn is always happy and helpful! Whether she is given a new project or is filling in for coworkers she will always step up and serve our families with a smile.”
To get to know her better we asked Evelyn to answer a few questions. Here’s a little of what she shared!
Tell us about life at IRC.
Inland Regional Center has been my home away from home for the last 15 years. And I could not have been more blessed. I have met so many selfless and wonderful people here. I can honestly say I won the jackpot when I was hired. I feel honored to be the first point of contact for Riverside County families.
What is your life like outside of work?
Outside of work I love hiking and exploring the mountains in my community, spending time with my family and friends, working out and traveling. For those that know me, shoes are my favorite thing to collect!
How do you think this award reflects your personality and work at the agency?
I would consider my personality to be positive. I try to make something good out of every situation whether at work or at home. Smiling and laughing is the cure for any bad day. I really like the Mark Twain Quote “The best way to cheer yourself is to try to cheer someone else up.”
October 2018 – Hercules Award
Mirianne Kirk is a Consumer Service Coordinator (CSC) in our Seniors unit. Mirianne is known as a staffer who always goes above and beyond the call of duty to assist both her Consumers as well as her colleagues. Her teammates shared these kind words about her, “Mirianne is a case manager with the utmost dedication to her Consumers. She is very resourceful, a great communicator, and a tremendous asset to the agency.”
We wanted to learn a little more about Mirianne, so we asked her a few questions. Here’s what she told us!
