Community EngagementBlog, Employees

Estimated Reading Time: 4 Minutes

In December of 2018, Inland Regional Center was named a Top Workplace by Inland News Group! The Top Workplace program recognizes employers who focus on employee satisfaction and empowerment.

We asked some of our staffers to tell us what they think makes IRC a top workplace. We’ve created a three-part blog series based on what they shared. This is the third installment!

Sandra, describe your job/job duties.

I work as part of the clinical team and assist the multidisciplinary in determining eligibility for IRC. I asses for service eligibility on the basis of autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability and the 5th category (which is a condition closely related to intellectual disability or that requires treatment similar to intellectual disability).  I do this by conducting psychological evaluations and by reviewing documentation of individuals from Early Start through adulthood.

Describe your department.

My department is supervised by Wasima Alvi and is comprised of clinicians from a variety of disciplines, including psychologists, medical doctors, a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, a nutritionist, nurses, etc. We work in various capacities to evaluate the needs of our consumers and to recommend and provide various services.  However, we also work closely with the Early Start program and Intake departments to guide consumers through the eligibility process.

What are 3 words you would use to describe the agency?

Improving, Compassionate, Committed.

What is your favorite part about your position?

My favorite part about my specific job is having the opportunity to work with children and families.  I particularly love the little ones.  Honestly, is anyone cuter than a 2 ½-year-old?

What is your favorite thing about working at IRC?

My favorite thing about working at IRC is the people.  I find most of the staff members to be kind and friendly.

What do you think makes IRC a Top Workplace?

The 9/80 work week, lots of holidays, a good benefits package, and great co-workers.  Did I mention, lots of holidays?  IRC employees work hard, but we also find time to play.
