Here at Inland Regional Center (IRC), we know our staffers are our most valuable resource! Team IRC is made up of more than 770 committed professionals who provide excellent service to people with developmental disabilities. Each month, IRC staff nominate their outstanding colleagues in our Employee Recognition program. This month, we are celebrating Theresa Charles and Jonathan Vasquez!
Both of this month’s awardees are Service Coordinators with IRC! Our Service Coordinators meet with IRC clients, their families, and support team to understand the client’s needs and goals. They then secure services and resources for clients, as well as provide support and advocacy!
Hercules Award Winner – Theresa Charles
Theresa is a Consumer Services Coordinator in our Seniors Unit, working with our older clients. Upon meeting her you will see right away that Theresa is a powerhouse of energy and personality! Lucky for us she brings that energy and personality to the job every day! She is known for providing excellent service to both clients and IRC Service Providers, ensuring her documentation is up-to-date and thorough. And she always provides support to her teammates. Her colleagues say, “If you were to look up the work “dependable” in the dictionary, Theresa’s picture would be there.”
To get to know Theresa a little better, we asked her a few questions. Here is what she shared!
What do you like most about your work at IRC?
I consider IRC my second family. I love my coworkers and I adore, and appreciate, my clients. It is a privilege, blessing, and honor to work with my co-workers, clients, families and Vendors.
What is your life like outside of work?
Outside of IRC, I enjoy singing in my church choir and attending church activities! I love spending quality time with my friends and family. I enjoy tennis and like to travel…but above all I love the Lord.
How do you think this award reflects your personality and work at the agency?
I am honored to receive this award. I always strive to excel in everything that I do. My philosophy at work is to be a team player, be kind, practice integrity and time management, and serve my Consumers to the best of my ability. My mom instilled in me the importance of always autographing my work with excellence.
Positively Contagious Award Winner – Jonathan Vasquez
Jonathan is a Consumer Services Coordinator in our Riverside East unit, working with adult clients primarily in Yucca Valley. Jonathan radiates awesome energy! In fact, his positivity is so well-known he was nominated for this award by two co-workers! His colleagues had these kind words to share about him, “Jonathan comes to work with a great attitude. He is approachable, friendly, outgoing, and genuine. He is always willing to help and provides great advice and suggestions.”
We wanted to learn more about Jonathan, so we asked him a few questions.
What do you like most about your work at IRC?
I enjoy working with our clients and their families, as I have witnessed the positive and meaningful role IRC plays in their lives. In addition, my colleagues and PM have been such a great blessing and so very helpful.
What is your life like outside of work?
Since I am currently in school, I have little time to pursue my hobbies. However, I do enjoy spending time with my son and teaching him about surfing and skating. Additionally, I love drinking coffee and watching the English Premier League. FC Chelsea!!!
How do you think this award reflects your personality and work at the agency?
I was very moved to receive this award and will continue to do my best to continue to add to the existing positive atmosphere at IRC.
Thank you, Theresa and Jonathan, for making IRC a great place to work.
