Here at Inland Regional Center (IRC), we believe our staff is our most valuable resource! Team IRC is made up of more than 770 committed professionals providing excellent service to people with developmental disabilities. Each month, IRC staffers nominate their outstanding colleagues in our Employee Recognition program.

This month’s Hercules Award winner is Veronica Castillo. The Hercules Award is for IRC staffers who go above and beyond for the agency and often take on demanding projects!

Veronica is a Consumer Support Technician-III with our Early Start Mid-South Counties team. Her colleagues were extremely appreciative when she stepped in to help the team while another staffer was on leave! They noted Veronica’s importance to the team by saying, “She does absolutely everything she can to make sure we’re able to do our jobs with the least amount of stress possible.” In addition to a fantastic work ethic, Veronica is also known for her positive attitude and contagious smile!

To get to know Veronica a little better, we asked her a few questions. Here is what she shared!

What do you like most about your work at IRC?

I like the relationships and friendships I have developed here at IRC. I have been able to make some incredible connections that have enriched my life immensely. These friendships make it a pleasure to come to work every day. I also appreciate the work that our organization does for the community and am delighted to be a part of it.

What is your life like outside of work?

My personal time outside of work is filled with family. I have very close connections with my five children and spend as much time with them as I can. I also enjoy quality time and weekend getaways with my husband.

How do you think this award reflects your personality and work at the agency?

I am honored to have received this award. It gave me great joy to see my hard work acknowledged and appreciated by those I work with. It is true that I covered while another CST was out on maternity leave, and was happy to help my fellow teammates in any way that I could.

Congratulations Veronica! Thanks for helping make IRC a wonderful place to work!
